Fathom Analytics alternatives and pricing: what else to consider

Fathom lists $15 a month for up to 100,000 pageviews on at least 50 sites, a 7-day trial with a card and no free plan. Plausible starts at $9 a month for one small site. Simple Analytics and Stickybeak offer free plans; Stickybeak puts your sites together on one live screen.

TL;DR

  • Fathom lists seven days free with a card, then $15 a month for up to 100,000 pageviews on at least 50 sites, rising to $60 at 1,000,000. It lists no free plan.
  • Stay with Fathom if it answers your questions and costs less at your monthly traffic level. Look elsewhere if you want a free plan, a different price curve, one live screen across your sites, or revenue by channel.

Stickybeak is live analytics for every site you own, set up with one script tag. It is in early access, with a free plan and paid plans from US$20 a month.

What Fathom costs

Fathom's pricing page sells one product in tiers set by monthly pageviews, and every tier includes at least 50 sites (bigger tiers include more). Prices are in US dollars. The page lists a yearly option described as 2 months free; the figures below are the monthly prices. Fathom's page says custom events use the same allowance as pageviews, so the Fathom column assumes no custom events; if you track many, you may need a higher tier.

Monthly pageviewsFathom, per monthStickybeak (ours), per month
Up to 10k$15 (smallest tier is 100,000)Free
Up to 100,000$15$20 (Solo)
Up to 200,000$25$20 (Solo)
Up to 500,000$45$20 (Solo)
Up to 1,000,000$60$200 (Team, up to 10M)
Up to 2,000,000$100$200 (Team)
Up to 5,000,000$140$200 (Team)
Up to 10,000,000$200$200 (Team)
Up to 25,000,000$470$2,000 (Agency, up to 100M)

Fathom's other tiers are $380 at 20M and $290 at 15M; above 25M it is custom. Extra sites come in packs of 50 for $10 a month or $100 a year, up to 15 packs from billing settings. On Fathom's page every plan includes event and revenue tracking, UTM campaign tracking, saved views and shared dashboards, automatic bot filtering, an analytics API, unlimited email reports and exports, and email support. It says no cookie banners are required.

The numbers show where each is cheaper. Under 10k pageviews Stickybeak is free. Fathom is cheaper at 100,000 ($15 against $20), Stickybeak from 200k to 500k ($20 against $25 to $45). From 1M to 5M Fathom is cheaper (at 1M, $60 against $200), at 10M both are $200, and above 10M Fathom is cheaper again. Stickybeak's plans are wide flat bands (Solo covers up to 500k pageviews and 2 people), which is why the gap swings.

Fathom Analytics pricing: trial, billing and overages

  • Trial: 7 days free, card required. Fathom says your card is not charged until the trial ends and it emails you before billing starts.
  • Free plan: none listed.
  • Cancelling: from your account settings at any time, with no contracts.
  • Going over your tier: Fathom says it never turns analytics off for occasional spikes. If you stay well over, it emails you about a larger plan and you decide whether to upgrade or cancel; after reminders and extra time it pauses dashboard and API access, and keeps collecting data throughout.
  • Going down a tier: if you've been under your tier for two consecutive months you can downgrade from billing settings.

Who should stay with Fathom

Stay if you want a hosted tool that shows visitors, sources and pages on one screen, you run a handful or dozens of small sites, and you don't need a free plan. At least 50 sites in the $15 plan is a lot of room, and the price steps up gently: $60 at a million pageviews is a fair number to set beside any alternative here. If your traffic is above 500k pageviews a month, Fathom's listed prices are at or below Stickybeak's. Nothing in this page is a reason to move if Fathom already answers the questions you ask each week.

The alternatives, one by one

Plausible

Plausible is the nearest like-for-like: a hosted, simple dashboard priced by pageviews. Its Starter plan is $9 a month for up to 10k pageviews and one site, below Fathom's entry price but with a smaller tier: Fathom's $15 covers 100,000 pageviews. Funnels, ecommerce revenue attribution and the Stats API are listed on Business. See Plausible pricing for every tier.

Simple Analytics

Simple Analytics lists a free plan (with a badge on your site) and a paid plan from $20 a month, priced by a pageview slider. Its page says it uses no cookies and needs no consent banner, and data is stored in the EU. It is the one to check first if cost at low traffic is why you're leaving Fathom.

Stickybeak

Stickybeak is our product, so weigh this section accordingly. It is live analytics for every site you own: all sites on one wall with a per-minute chart and top countries, revenue by channel, campaign and ?ref= code, and each order keeps its trail (entry page, referrer, UTM tags, pages read before buying). Pricing counts pageviews from real people across all your sites at one flat price per plan: free up to 10k, Solo $20 up to 500k, Team $200 up to 10M, Agency $2,000 up to 100M. It is in early access. The pricing page lists Stripe, Lemon Squeezy and Polar connections as on the way, so revenue is not yet read from those. Setup is one script tag; see analytics for multiple websites.

Switching from Fathom: Stickybeak's pricing page gives three months free to people moving from Fathom, Plausible, DataFast or Simple Analytics. Send your last invoice.

  3. Export what you want to keep from Fathom: its page lists unlimited email reports and exports.
  4. Move the remaining sites and remove the Fathom script.
  5. Cancel Fathom from your account settings.
