Exclude your own visits
Exclude your own traffic from analytics so routine clicking does not skew a small site's numbers. Stickybeak leaves out your team's networks on its own, and can also filter a browser, local development or chosen pages.
Your team's networks (automatic)
Whenever someone in your workspace signs in to the Stickybeak dashboard, the network they're on is remembered for 30 days. Visits from it, on any of the workspace's sites, are labelled Your team and left out of visitor numbers and the live view. They show under You and your team in the bots breakdown instead. That covers you browsing your own sites, and anything browsing from your computer, like an AI assistant's browser.
Stickybeak keeps a scrambled fingerprint of the network (the IPv4 address, or the first half of an IPv6 address), never the address itself. Settings → Your own visits lists the networks, marks the one you're on, lets you forget one, and turns the whole thing off.
On a VPN or iCloud Private Relay you reach your sites from a different network, so you're counted. Visits from before you first signed in from a network aren't relabelled. If you sign in on mobile data, others sharing that carrier's address can be left out too until it's forgotten or 30 days pass.
Filter internal traffic from your browser
Open your site, open the devtools Console (F12, or Cmd+Option+I on a Mac) and run:
localStorage.setItem("stickybeak:ignore", "true");
From then on, that browser isn't counted on that site. The script checks before every request, so it takes effect straight away; reload to stop the script altogether.
Or open any page of your site with ?stickybeak=ignore on the end of the address, like https://example.com/?stickybeak=ignore. The script sets the same flag and shows a short note saying this browser won't be counted. ?stickybeak=count undoes it.
To be counted again:
localStorage.removeItem("stickybeak:ignore");
Browsers keep local storage separately for each origin, so example.com, www.example.com and app.example.com each need it set once. It's also per browser and per profile, and private windows start without it. Clearing your site data removes it.
Do Not Track and Global Privacy Control
Stickybeak doesn't read Do Not Track or Global Privacy Control, so a browser that sends either is counted like any other. Turning them on in your own browser won't keep you out of your numbers. To leave yourself out, rely on your team's networks or set stickybeak:ignore as above.
Localhost
The script doesn't run on localhost, 127.0.0.1 or [::1], or on pages opened straight from a file, so local development stays out of your numbers with no extra setup.
data-allow-localhost="true" lets the script run on those addresses, which is handy for checking that your goal calls fire. Stickybeak still won't record the visits: it only accepts events from your site's own domain and its subdomains, so they're refused with a 403. You can watch them leave in the Network tab, but they won't reach your dashboard.
The same applies to other local or preview addresses, like a .test domain, a local network IP or a hosting provider's preview URL: they aren't your domain, so their events are refused.
A staging site on a subdomain of your real domain, like staging.example.com, is accepted and counted with your live site. Leave the tag out of staging builds, or give staging its own site. See Staging and preview environments.
Ignore pages
To leave certain pages out for everyone, like an admin area or a logged-in app, add patterns to the site's ignore list. In Settings, find your site, click Goals & annotations, and fill in Ignore these pages under General, one pattern per line. Click Save.
/admin*
/account/*
/g/*/m/*
- Each pattern starts with
/and matches the whole path. *matches anything, including further/segments./admin*matches/admin,/admin/and/admin/users/42.- Paths are compared without a trailing slash and without the query string.
- Up to 50 patterns, each up to 200 characters.
Pageviews and goals on matching pages are dropped as they arrive and never stored. The change takes effect within about a minute and applies from then on; pages already recorded stay. Only workspace admins can change this setting.
Bots
You don't need to exclude bots yourself. Stickybeak labels them as they arrive and keeps them out of every number. See Bot filtering.
