beehiiv

beehiiv analytics with Stickybeak tracks website visits and subscriber goals through Google Tag Manager in about 10 minutes. It is a lighter alternative to Google Analytics for your beehiiv website; email activity stays outside this tracking.

Before you start

You need Google Tag Manager. Add the custom or yourpublication.beehiiv.com domain to Stickybeak Settings.

Add the script

  1. Create the tag

In Tag Manager, add a Custom HTML tag that fires on Initialization - All Pages:

    <script
      defer
      data-site="YOUR_SITE_ID"
      data-domain="example.com"
      src="https://app.usestickybeak.com/_cfw/s.js"
    ></script>
  2. Connect beehiiv

Publish the container and copy its GTM- ID. In beehiiv, open the website builder and go to settings icon → Site settings → Tracking pixels. Paste the ID into Google Tag Manager, save and publish.

Check it's working

Check the published publication. Tag Assistant confirms the tag fired; verify Stickybeak with a real visit.

Track goals

For a subscription, add its destination path as ⚙ Settings → Goals → a page visit. GTM can also fire the queued API from its own triggers; see Custom goals.

Track purchases

beehiiv does not expose purchase values to this website tag. Track a post-purchase page as a goal; use the revenue API only where your checkout exposes amount, currency and order ID.

If it isn't working

  • Publish both the GTM container and beehiiv site.
  • Do not use a beehiiv HTML block: it covers one page and script execution is undocumented.
