Goals and revenue
Shopify checkout
Shopify checkout tracking in Stickybeak records storefront activity and checkout starts. It cannot record purchases completed inside Shopify checkout.
Why purchases are unavailable
Shopify checkout does not run theme code. Customer-event pixels run in a sandboxed iframe, where Stickybeak cannot read the top-level first-party cookie that links the purchase to earlier visits.
Shopify conversion tracking for checkout starts
<button type="submit" name="checkout" data-goal="initiate_checkout" data-goal-items="{{ cart.item_count }}">
Check out
</button>
Search your theme for name="checkout". You can also add data-goal="add_to_cart" to the add-to-cart button.
Do not send an amount
A checkout start is not a sale. Leave off revenue and amount; use value if you need the cart total as a property.
Use Shopify's reports for completed orders. Stickybeak still reports storefront visitors, channels, campaigns, affiliates and goal conversion rates.
